The Race

For the five young men, the game begins in Morocco, 2500 kilometers away in Africa. As the title suggests, it’s all about speed for the participants: from Morocco, they have to make their way to Cologne as quickly as possible. Everyone is on their own. The first to reach their destination wins. The prize money is (as yet) unknown.
They set off without a penny in their pockets and without a smartphone. The participants are not accompanied by a camera team, but film themselves on their journey, as seen in 7 vs. Wild.

The rules of the game #
The most important rules in this game:
- The game ends for everyone as soon as the first participant has reached Cologne. The organizing team can contact the participants by emergency telephone.
- Help may only be obtained from strangers, not from friends, acquaintances or fans, authorities (e.g. German embassy) or insurance companies. No promises may be made with regard to a later return service.
- Civilian scheduled flights may not be used as a means of transportation.
- When hitchhiking, only one country border may be crossed per hitchhiker.
- Fare evasion is tolerated. However, anyone caught for the second time will be eliminated.
- All participants receive the same basic equipment (see equipment). This may not be sold, exchanged or lent. No entry fee, no smartphone.
- Participation in a race with friends may be mentioned, but not the high-reach YouTube format.
- An OK message must be sent to the organizing team twice a day by SMS with the emergency phone.

The participants #
While 7 vs. Wild mainly features participants with a high reach, Dave takes a different approach with his format. The entertainment value doesn’t suffer one bit, the guys all come across as very likeable. And the series should soon be a success. At least I very much hope so for Dave.
Episodes and publication schedule #
The first of the 10 episodes Ohne Geld ausgesetzt in Afrika was released on June 30, 2024. Until July 31, a new episode will be released every Wednesday and Sunday at 12 noon on YouTube. On Joyn 14 days earlier.
